  • doing vs listening

    as i was making my cup of morning coffee i was thinking about how all/most of my saturdays are basically written off cuz of softball, and then in sept it'll be squads again. i was thinking how it is kind of inconvenient because there are a lot of track related events in the summer i'd like to go to... like DMCC (http://www.dmccdrift.com/)  .

    then it dawned on me, like a voice saying in my head "you don't have to do more ish... I just wanted you to spend more time with me"

     it's so easy to do stuff with good intentions and think it'll bring you closer to God when it doesn't. It's just going through the motion. you don't always have to be doing something to be doing something. sitting down doing devos and being still before God IS doing something.

    psalm 46:10
    "Be still, and know that I am God;
           I will be exalted among the nations,
           I will be exalted in the earth."

    psalm 37:7
    Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
           do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
           when they carry out their wicked schemes.

    man i gotta get my soul right.. i gotta get these devils out my life
